Two years ago, twelve-year-old Priya Rawat was on the verge of dropping out of school. The daily 3-hour trek to the nearest school in the mountains of Uttarakhand was becoming impossible, especially during harsh winters. Today, she attends classes in her village's solar-powered digital classroom and dreams of becoming a software engineer. "I love the computer classes," says Priya with bright eyes. "Now I can learn the same things as children in big cities. My favorite subject is mathematics because the animated videos make it so easy to understand." The transformation came when our Education Technology Program established a digital classroom in her village. Equipped with tablets, interactive whiteboards, and satellite internet, the classroom brought world-class education to her doorstep. Priya's teacher, Ramesh Bisht, a local youth trained through our program, has watched her blossom. "Priya was always bright, but she was losing hope about her education. Now she's the most active student in class, always asking questions and helping other children with their computer skills." The impact extends beyond academics. Priya now helps her parents with digital tasks, from checking weather forecasts for farming to connecting with relatives through video calls. She has even started teaching basic computer skills to other children in neighboring villages. "My dream is to study computer science and create apps that can help people in villages like mine," Priya explains. "I want to show that mountain children can achieve anything if given the right opportunities." Her story represents the transformation happening across 30 villages where digital education has opened new horizons for children who once had limited access to quality learning resources.
